Short term car hire rates
Choose a daily, weekly or monthly rental. Every advertised rate includes Standard Cover, 24-hour emergency assistance and the stated kilometre allowance. Different mileage options are available on all vehicles.
Free cancellation is available up to 48 hours before collection. Rates are subject to vehicle availability.

How short term car rental works
Short term vehicle rental with us is four steps. Same day collection may be available, subject to vehicle availability and document approval.
Choose your dates
Pick your collection branch, dates and vehicle class on the booking page, or phone the branch and we will check stock while you wait.
Send your documents
Licence, ID and proof of address by WhatsApp or email. We confirm your booking once your documents are approved.
Pay and collect
Settle the rental by card or EFT. We arrange the required authorisation hold before collection, then walk the vehicle with you and note any existing marks.
Extend or return
Need it longer? Contact us before return, and we’ll confirm availability and your extension rate.

Can I rent a car with a debit card in South Africa?
Yes. vrentals accepts debit and cheque cards, subject to credit scoring. A debit-card surcharge applies. Credit cards, EFT and instant transfer are also accepted. The deposit differs by card type.
What is the minimum age to rent a car?
How much is the deposit, and when do I get it back?
The authorisation hold starts at R5,000 on a credit card or R7,500 on a debit card, depending on the vehicle. Debit card rentals are subject to credit scoring *surcharge fee applies. The hold is not a charge, so no transaction fee applies unless deductions are needed, such as for fuel. It is released within seven working days after the vehicle is returned.
Is insurance included?
Yes. Standard cover is included in every rate shown on the site. Want a lower excess? Super Cover reduces your authorisation hold and liability. Select it when you book, or call the branch for a quote.
Is there a mileage limit on short term car rental?
You choose 100 km or 200 km per day when you book. Additional kilometres start from R3.48 per km and depend on the vehicle hired. Unlimited mileage is available on any rental for 3 days or more.
What is the minimum rental period?
One day.
Can I add another driver?
Yes. Additional drivers are a once-off R400 plus VAT.
Are there any extra costs?
The rate includes VAT, standard cover and the vehicle preparation fee. You’ll pay for fuel used, toll fees and the applicable handling fee, and kilometres over your allowance. An authorisation hold is also required; it is not a charge and is released after the rental.
Can I extend my rental?
Yes. Contact us before your rental period ends to arrange an extension, subject to availability.
